Denver Broncos running back C.J. Anderson will miss multiple games with a knee injury, according to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network.

Garafolo described the injury as a “bone bruise” in Anderson’s right knee. Anderson suffered the injury in the first quarter against the Houston Texans on Monday. He played after enduring the bone bruise and finished with 16 carries for 107 yards and one touchdown. It was his highest rushing output of the season.

Anderson’s absence will create more opportunities for backup running back Devontae Booker. The rookie had his best game of the season Monday, recording season highs in attempts (17) and yards (83). Booker is a fast, powerful runner who could do well while Anderson is on the shelf.

The Broncos (5-2) play the surging San Diego Chargers (3-4) on Sunday. They follow that up with games against the Oakland Raiders and New Orleans Saints before going into their bye week.
