UPDATE: Cold Crush is reopening Thursday, Oct. 20, after coming to an agreement with the city.

On Monday morning, 29-year-old Tyrone Adair was shot and killed near the intersection of 27th and Larimer streets. On Wednesday, police posted notice on the door of Cold Crush identifying it as a public nuisance.

Update: Dan Rowland, a spokesman for the city of Denver, says Cold Crush has been issued an emergency suspension of its liquor license and the attached cabaret license.

The suspension lasts for 15 days and stops the bar from serving alcohol and playing music during that time.

Westword’s Mark Antonation first spotted the nuisance notice from the Denver Police Department posted outside the bar today.

It reads, “This property has been identified as a public nuisance as defined in Section 37-50 (C), Denver Revised Municipal Code due to the following activities: Unlawful discharge of a firearm.”

The notice also says that the city can file a civil action for seizure of the property, closure and other remedies after 10 days.

This was the second shooting outside Cold Crush in a little more than two years. The bar has long been a hot spot for music and art, especially hip hop.

Adair, aka Goodie, leaves behind a daughter, and a GoFundMe page has been set up to help his family. The Denver Post has a thoughtful obituary of Adair.
