Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog is expected to make his return to the lineup against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.
Landeskog has missed the last 10 games with what the team has only described as a “lower-body injury,” but he should be available for game action once again, the team said Friday.
His return is good news for an Avalanche team that desperately needs some. Colorado is tied with the Arizona Coyotes for the fewest points in the NHL.
Landeskog had four goals and four assists before he got hurt. Landeskog was close to making his return two weeks ago. He skated during practice but then had a setback.
“That was tough, but at the same time that’s the nature of the beast I feel like,” Landeskog said, according to the team. “We’re all competitive, and we all want to come back and help the team as fast as possible. Maybe I got a little too excited there as soon as I got on the ice and pushed it a little too hard, and that’s my fault really. Obviously had a little bit of a setback, but we were able to recharge and refocus, and we wanted to make sure that I didn’t make the same mistake again.”
The Avalanche take on the Montreal Canadiens at 5 p.m. Saturday.
