Denver’s most expensive home sales in 2016, by neighborhood

Check out the map to get a sense of the most expensive neighborhoods, as well as the most home sale in that neighborhood.

Keeping up with the Joneses is a fruitless exercise, but it’s also lot harder if you’re comparing yourself to a whole city of over 650,000 people.

So rather than simply ogle the most expensive homes sold in Denver during 2016, here’s an opportunity to do it on a more local level.

Check out the map below to get a sense of the most expensive neighborhoods, as well as the most expensive home sale in that neighborhood.

I confess, I expected that the differences across neighborhoods would be relatively unremarkable.

And true, it’s not shocking that Cherry Creek and Washington Park are among the neighborhoods with the most expensive home sales in 2016. But ten neighborhoods, including Athmar Park, Chaffee Park and Globeville, had “expensive” homes that sold for $500,000 or less.

Methodology: The data for this article comes from Denver’s records of sales and transfers. Only residential properties and arms-length sales were included.
