Colorado Rockies second baseman D.J. LeMahieu won the National League batting title by hitting a blistering .348. LeMahieu’s alma mater, Louisiana State University, appears to have taken notice.

LSU took out a billboard near I-25 and Auraria recognizing LeMahieu for his accomplishment.

LeMahieu played two season at LSU. He was a key player on the Tigers’ 2009 team that won a College World Series.

He was drafted by the Cubs in 2009 and traded to Colorado in December 2011. LeMahieu’s quietly improved over the years in Denver.

In 2015, he batted .301. This year, his .348/.416/.495 batting, on-base and slugging percentages were all career highs. He recorded 192 hits in 146 games. Most of those went to the opposite field.

LeMahieu will be back in Colorado in 2017, when he’s slated to make $4.8 million.
