A 38-year-old man was shot and killed early Sunday morning after leaving an after hours club in Denver’s Five Points neighborhood, Denver police said Tuesday.

Police are looking for the shooter who fled the scene after the murder, a news release states.

At approximately 4:48 a.m. Sunday, Gerald Hammons was shot and killed outside of his vehicle parked near Welton and 29th streets. Hammons had been at Wardenclyffe, an after hours club at 2852 Welton St., just prior to the shooting.

Denver police didn’t immediately release any other information about the shooting. Those with more information about the crime are asked to call the Denver Police Department at 720-913-2000 or Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.

Three men were arrested in late July on suspicion of illegally selling alcohol at 2852 Welton St. The property landlord told Denverite he planned to evict the tenants of the building by Sept. 9.
