Nathaniel Simpson identified as victim in downtown Denver shooting; suspect arrested

The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner has identified the man killed in a double shooting downtown yesterday as 30-year-old Nathaniel Simpson of Wheat Ridge.

The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner has identified the man killed in a double shooting downtown yesterday as 30-year-old Nathaniel Simpson of Wheat Ridge.

Meanwhile, 20-year-old Steven Wiley has been arrested for investigation of first-degree murder in the case, according to The Denver Post. He and a woman, who detained but not arrested, attempted to leave the scene on a bus, DP reported.

The shooting happened around 2 p.m. yesterday in a parking lot on the 1600 block of Champa Street, near the 16th Street Mall.

A second victim was taken to the hospital.
