If there’s one reason why you should splurge a little at The Nickel, it’s that the dishes will always surprise you.

For example, up until recently, the restaurant inside the Hotel Teatro was serving delicious caprese tartlets that looked like this:

The new fall menu lives up to that standard for unique presentation. Chef Sean Stengel built the menu around two familiar ideas — Americana and community — and made something that looks totally unfamiliar.

The dishes are meant to romanticize Americana, “which is more than mayonnaise and french fries,” he says. And the selection is meant to be practical, offering options for hotel guests looking for a good meal or theater-goers looking for a quick bite.

Take a look.
