Congratulations, you season-brightening, good-tiding bringing folks of Denver. Most of you are tolerating the stress of the holiday season without resorting to calling a government service to complain about it.
In this week’s chart of the week, I looked at 311 data to find out whether people are calling in to complain about their neighbor’s lights, caroling or any manner of holiday irritants. Turns out, if it’s bothering you, you’ve mostly kept it to yourself.
All save for the one scrooge/brave soul who called to complain about a Christmas party in City Council District 11 on Dec. 3. The nature of the problem wasn’t clear from the complaint.
That was the single complaint from Dec. 21, 2015 to the presently available data that included some iteration of either “holiday”, “xmas”, “Hanukkah”, or “Christmas.” Yes, that includes alternate and common misspellings of those words.
The city’s 311 logs are complete through Dec. 13, so there’s still some time to get your grinch on.
Citizens of Denver did utilize 311 for other holiday-related issues — they just were considered either inquiries or requests. Below, I’ve charted the most common issues.
Now, let’s make up for lost time and start complaining about this complainer who ruined an otherwise perfect record and therefore all winter-solstice adjacent festivities. Kidding!
