Que Bueno Suerte opens this weekend on South Pearl Street

Directed by Dana Rodriguez and Vincente Sosa, Que Bueno Suerte’s kitchen will be turning out upscale Mexican cuisine mixed with a variety of other Latin American styles.

Before chef Dana Rodriguez served a room full of food reporters and editors the dishes she and chef Vicente Sosa created for their new restaurant, she had a few things to say.

Mainly, “I don’t fuck around with food.”

Que Bueno Suerte, 1518 S. Pearl St., represents a second life for Westminster’s Que Bueno, which was pushed out by development. Much of the Mayan-themed artwork came from that restaurant.

But with new digs on South Pearl Street comes a new flavor. Directed by Work & Class’ Rodriguez as consulting chef and Sosa as executive chef, Que Bueno Suerte’s kitchen will be turning out upscale Mexican cuisine mixed with a variety of other Latin American styles.

Here’s a bit of what the menu has to offer:

Piña Colada Invierno

Flor de Caña, Kalani coconut, simple syrup, house nutmeg-coconut cream and pineapple.

Guajillo pepper-steamed lamb neck and cheek with radish-cilantro-red onion salad.

Que Bueno Suerte opens for dinner and late-night Sunday, Dec. 11. Hours are 4 p.m. to midnight Sunday through Wednesday and 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.

Lunch and brunch hours will come later.
