Update: There won’t be a Harry Potter escape room in Denver, but you can still use your imagination

A bunch of keys. (Pexel)

We told you earlier that Denver Escape Room was planning an escape room themed after the new Harry Potter movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

That’s not happening anymore, but you still can experience a wizard-adjacent puzzle that is not associated with any of Warner Brothers’ intellectual property.

Brian Lacertosa, owner of Denver Escape Room, said that he had fully licensed the new puzzle room, but the movie studio pulled out of the deal.

“Warner Brothers pulled our license. Legal said no after everybody else said yes,” he said.

They’re busy removing all Harry Potter references and doing some final testing on the room, which now will open as “Grim Stacks,” involving not a “fantastic beast” but instead a “mysterious creature.”

Reservations are available beginning Nov. 13, and the room may be opening earlier than that. Fantastic Beasts will be released Nov. 18 in the U.S.
