The intersection of East 6th Avenue and Grant Street was closed this morning due to flooding from a broken water pipe, Denver Police announced at about 6:37 a.m. DPD urged drivers to expect delays and avoid the area.
The shutdown was expected to last through all of Friday, Nov. 11. Part of the reason for the failure may be that the pipe is 126 years old.
Update: Water service will be restored to all 28 customers by about 6 p.m. Friday, according to Denver Water.
Eastbound lanes will be reopened as crews begin repairing the street overnight.
Water service has been shut off on the following blocks:
- Along the south side of East Sixth Avenue between Grant Street and Washington Street
- On Logan Street and Pennsylvania Street between East Fifth Avenue and East Sixth Avenue.
