With all the buzz about metro Denver working to bring Amazon’s new, massive headquarters to the area, it could be easy to forget the e-commerce giant already has fulfillment and sortation centers here.
To get ready for the holiday shopping season, Amazon.com Inc. is looking to add more than 1,000 additional workers to its Colorado fleet. Nationwide, the Seattle-based company plans to staff up with 120,000 holiday hires, according to a news release sent Thursday.

Amazon opened new fulfillment and sortation centers in Aurora during the last two years. The company is expected to become the largest employer in Thornton after it opens a fulfillment center there in fall 2018.
In addition to its centers, Amazon leases 100,000 square feet of warehouse space in unincorporated Adams County for its Amazon Fresh same-day grocery delivery program, according to the Denver Business Journal.
Altogether the company has about 1,600 workers in metro Denver and expects to hire another 1,500 next year, the DBJ reports.
