On Wednesday, it was announced that Team Canada defenseman Tyson Barrie will miss the remainder of Ice Hockey World Championships with a lower leg injury.
On Thursday, we learned what might have caused the vaguely worded injury: Some good-old fashioned wrasslin’.
TSN Canada hockey insider Darren Dreger reported Thursday morning that Barrie suffered a cut on his leg while he was wrasslin’ with a teammate in his hotel room.
Barrie, 25, was having a nice tournament until he got hurt wrasslin’. He recorded two goals and five assists in three games.
Barrie just completed his sixth season with the Colorado Avalanche. He had seven goals, 31 assists and was a minus-34 in 74 games.
