Colorado Mills was hit hard by last week’s hail storm, with shoppers and workers forced to evacuate. Now it appears the Lakewood mall could be closed until November.

According to CBS4, a letter addressed to mall tenants from the Mills management said that they are unsure how long the mall will be closed for. The letter reportedly states: “At this time, we are not able to estimate, with precision, how long it will take until the complex is ready to be open to the public; however, we do not believe it will be before November.”

We’ve reached out to mall management for confirmation, but things apparently don’t look good inside the mall.

Videos and photos of the damage posted to social media show heavy damage within stores and throughout the aisles inside the mall. The mall’s power line was also damaged during the storm, but it has now been restored. However, the mall’s electrical systems are still damaged and lighting inside the mall has yet to be fully restored.

In a Facebook post, Colorado Mills addressed their customers’ concerns about the mall. The mall stated that their main priority is to re-open the mall as quickly as possible and to ensure that guests are safe.

Colorado Mills has over 200 stores and restaurants including the Lego Store, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH, H&M and Yard House. It’s unclear how many of those stores were impacted by the storm. Target at the mall reopened last week and other retailers like Regal Cinemas could reopen on their own terms before the rest of the mall.

A spokeswoman for Lakewood said the city is still estimating the damage from the storm.
