While you were preoccupied with the presidential election, Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado won a Gold Glove — again.
Gold Gloves are awarded to the best defensive player at his position in each league. Arenado has now won the National League Gold Glove at third base in each of his four seasons.
As Joe Trezza of MLB.com pointed out, that is unprecedented.
Arenado committed 13 errors in 1,377.1 innings, and if you’re into fancy-schmancy statistics, he led all third baseman in defensive runs saved with 20, per FanGraphs.
Former Orioles third baseman Brooks Robinson and pitcher Jim Kaat, who played for five clubs in 25 seasons, are the all-time leaders in Gold Gloves with 16.
