Remember Von Miller’s post-sack pelvic thrust celebration last season? I know that you do, and you know that you do.
Because the NFL is the fun-sucking league that it is, it fined Miller $11,567 for the celebration. It turns out, though, that the money to pay the fine didn’t come out of Miller’s pocket. Instead, Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele — better known as the sketch comedy duo Key and Peele — picked up the tab.
Miller started doing the celebration as a nod to one of Key and Peele’s football sketches. In it, Key pretends to be the professional football player Hingle McCringleberry. Upon scoring a touchdown, McCringleberry gyrates his hips. He is quickly penalized for the celebration.
Miller must have seen the sketch because his dance celebrating his takedown of Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith was remarkably similar.
“Jordan and I were so afraid of Von Miller, we paid the fine,” Key said on Conan O’Brien’s late-night talkshow.

The good parts of the skit that inspired Miller to do his thrusting dance are included. The best portion remains the announcer breaking down the penalty: “That was three pumps,” he says. “In the rule book, it says you can’t have more than two.”
Two pumps, guys. That’s the limit.
