The sister company of Hapa Sushi Grill & Sake Bar has signed on to bring its signature “burrito style” sushi rolls and make-your-own rice bowls to the 16th Street Mall, the Denver Pavilions announced Thursday.

Motomaki Inc. is leasing a 3,300-square-foot restaurant space, complete with a patio, near Forever 21 on the first level of the mall. The fast-casual eatery plans to open this fall.

“Opening our newest restaurant at Denver Pavilions will help us tap into a large, growing new market,” said Mark Van Grack, Motomaki owner.

“Downtown Denver is a place where people want to live, work and play, and Denver Pavilions is one of the city’s most desirable locations for new and expanded retail and restaurant opportunities,” Van Grack said in a statement.

Denver Pavilions has brought several new companies to Denver, including H&M and Uniqlo. Mall management is doing it again with Motomaki. The eatery currently only has locations in Boulder and Lakewood.

“Motomaki will be a delicious addition to downtown,” said Mark Sidell, president of Gart Properties, in a statement. Gart Properties owns the Denver Pavilions.

Bringing Motomaki fits with Gart Properties’ plan to create a mix of tenants that draw metro area residents to the mall, Sidell said.

Gart Properties is expected to bring Target to the 16th Street Mall in summer 2018 and Sephora to the Pavilions sometime this summer.
