Mallory Pugh plays most of her professional soccer on the other side of the country since she debuted with the Washington Spirit of the NWSL in May. But in September, Colorado soccer fans will get the chance to watch the former Mountain Vista High School star in person.

Pugh and the U.S. women’s national team will take on New Zealand on Sept. 15 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, U.S. Soccer announced Friday. It is the first of two friendlies between the sides. The other will take place Sept. 19 at Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati.

Pugh, who as a high school junior was named the Gatorade National Player of the Year, became the youngest U.S. women’s soccer player ever to score an Olympic goal in August. Pugh began her professional career with the Spirit in May. In four games with the club, she’s scored one goal on seven shots.

Golden native Lindsey Horan, who plays for the Portland Thorns, will also be back in her home state with the U.S. women’s national team.

The U.S. women’s team is 12-1-1 all-time against New Zealand, which is ranked 20th in the world.

Tickets to the friendly in Commerce City go on sale at ussoccer.com on Friday, July 14 at 10 a.m. MT. Or you can watch on ESPN2 at 8 p.m. MT.
