Jason Brown, 40, is accused of striking two people with his vehicle late Friday night in an alley near Broadway and Ellsworth Avenue.

The incident happened just before midnight on Friday, according to authorities. A responding police officer found two people lying in an alley. The officer spoke to a witness and ascertained that a truck had struck the pair and left the scene, according to an affidavit the officer filed.

The officer tracked a license plate number believed to be associated with the vehicle and identified Jason Brown as its registered owner, the affidavit states. The officer contacted Brown at his home in Lakewood, where Brown reportedly confirmed that he had been driving in the area.

It’s unclear whether Brown denied the allegations in speaking with the officer.

Kimberly Macey, 34, died after being struck in the collision. Another pedestrian was hospitalized and his condition is unknown, according to the Denver District Attorney’s Office..

Brown faces a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident as well as two careless driving charges.
