Just a couple weeks after the highly anticipated Tavernetta opened for business to rave reviews, the restaurant has been forced to temporarily close as it recovers from a kitchen fire.

The fire broke out on Sep. 21 and was quickly contained by the Denver Fire Department, a spokesperson for Tavernetta said. Diners and staff were evacuated, and no one was injured.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Repairs have begun to fix smoke damage and replace flooring, other woodwork and kitchen equipment. A re-opening is expected later this fall.
