The Arapahoe County coroner has identified the victim of a deadly shooting in Englewood Saturday night as Denver chef Nicholas Lewis.
The Denver Post reports that 33-year-old Lewis, who was the chef at Blackbird Public House in the Speer neighborhood, died of a gunshot wound to the chest. His death has been ruled a homicide. Englewood police were responding to reports of gun fire at 8:30 p.m. in the 3000 block of South Acoma Street when they found Lewis on the ground with several gunshot wounds.
A Facebook post from Blackbird Public House said, “Those that knew Nick are having a hard time understanding how such a kind and gentle person could be taken from us in such a violent manner. The loss of Chef Nick leaves a hole in all of our hearts. Rest in peace Chef Nick. We miss you.”
There is no additional information available, according to the Post, and an investigation is underway. Blackbird Public House appears to be open as usual.
