One firefighter injured as fire burns near Coors plant in Golden

A firefighter suffered minor injuries as crews tried to contain a fire on South Table Mountain, south of the MillerCoors brewery.

The fire first was reported to be about 5 to 10 acres in size, west of 32nd Avenue and McIntyre Street, at 4:21 p.m. Thursday. By 5:41 p.m. it was at about 75 acres, and it had grown to 100 acres by 9 p.m., according to West Metro Fire Rescue.

The fire was “zero percent” contained late on Thursday night, but had a relatively quiet night, according to West Metro. Further information was expected 8 a.m. Friday.

Fairmount Fire Rescue and units from Pleasant View, Arvada and other areas also responded, according to Fairmount Fire Rescue.
