David Dahl is officially out with a stress reaction in his sixth rib.

The 22-year-old who’s competing for a starting spot at left field will miss spring training games and be re-evaluated in two weeks, the Rockies announced Monday.

It’s now unclear if Dahl will be back at all during spring training. That could give Gerardo Parra the upper hand in the battle for the starting left field spot.

Dahl hit .315 with seven home runs and 24 RBIs in 63 games last season.

“I think the common theme is that he’s going to be fine — in time,” Rockies manager Bud Black said, according to the Denver Post. “This is not a months (long) deal. He should be able to resume baseball activities, hopefully in a couple of weeks.”
