After a surprisingly busy soft opening, Stanley Marketplace’s sushi spot, Misaki, is now open for lunch and dinner.

“We wanted sushi at Stanley from the very beginning,” Stanley co-founder Mark Shaker said in a release, “but it took us a while to find the right team. We’re thrilled that Misaki is opening. Their space really rounds out that side of the marketplace and adds to the diversity of offerings here.”

The restaurant is the project of executive chef Jesus Silva, Charlene Thai, who runs a HAACP-certified seafood warehouse, and Robert Thai, who has managed sushi restaurants in the metro Denver area for more than a decade. The Thais will use their combined contacts and experience to source fish from Japan and California.

“We have great contacts with fish vendors around town,” Silva said. “The quality is amazing. Today we got sea urchin from Baja, California, and a large order of fish from Japan.”

Before getting on board at Misaki, Silva worked at Osaka Ramen, Sushi-Rama, Sushi Sasa and, most recently, Silva’s Fish Market at Denver Central Market.

Misaki will offer standard sushi fare — nigiri sushi, regular rolls, tempura rolls, vegetarian rolls — along with nightly specials and a variety of chef specials. Among the latter are the Misaki Roll, made with tuna poke, avocado tempura, mustard yuzu sauce and maguro tataki, and the Stanley Roll, made with bincho, avocado tempura, tuna tataki, kaiware, negi and spicy ponzu.

Hours will be a little unpredictable. Misaki will be open daily, generally from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a break in the late afternoon.
