Things to do in Denver with kids this weekend, June 16-18 (and more!)

Joy Park — the 30,000-square-foot outdoor area — at the Children’s Museum is free and open from 4-8 p.m. this Friday, June 16. (Also: Fri., July 21; Fri., Aug. 18; Fri., Sept. 15.)

City Park Jazz: 6 p.m. Sundays at City Park. Get there early — it’s popular and crowded. June 18: Linda Styles; June 25: Dotsero; July 2: Purnell Steen and LeJazz Machine.

Kids Obstacle Challenge is a 1.5-to-2-mile course (with mud, of course) for kids ages 5-16. It’s in Westminster City Park this Saturday, June 17. $46 in advance, $56 day-of, parents run free. What could go wrong?

PrideFest is almost here — here’s our more complete guide. PrideFest takes place in Civic Center Park this weekend, June 17-18 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., and the parade starts Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m.

For very good parents (and children, we suppose): Denver’s best and most unusual ice cream treats.

Museum free days: The Denver Art Museum is always free for those 18 and under, and free on first Saturdays for adults. The next Denver Museum of Nature and Science free days are Aug. 6, Aug. 28, Sept. 17, Oct. 16, Nov. 13, Dec. 10. History Colorado is free for kids on Saturdays in June, July and August. MCA Denver has free teen events. The Clyfford Still Museum is always free for kids, and free on Sat., June 24 and Sat. July 1. The Money Museum is always free, but is only open on weekdays.
