Local music rules Lost Lake tonight, where one of Denver’s best — Wheelchair Sports Camp — is headlining.

On ahead of the hip-hop group are Los Mocochetes and The Other Black, fronted by the ubiquitous Wes Watkins.

Tickets are $12-15, doors are at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.

Raconteur Denver is at Spangalang Brewery this week, and the topic of conversation is nicknames.

The featured storytellers will be Dawn Fay, Gwen Lassen and Nathan Lund, and as always, you’re welcome to hop up on stage and tell your own story.

Things get going over at 2736 Welton St. at 7 p.m.

If you like running, talking about running, watching movies about running and drinking about running, boy, does Colfax Movie Night have an event for you.

The evening at the Sie Film Center, 2510 E. Colfax Ave., kicks off with a social running happy hour from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. That’ll be followed by a running forum from 7 to 7:30 p.m. and a screening of the movie “McFarland, USA” at 7:30 p.m. (Yes, the movie is about running. It stars Kevin Costner.)

Tickets are $10.

If the usual beer and cheese pairings are a little too beer-y for you, here’s an alternative: The Preservery, 3040 Blake St., #101, is hosting a cheese and spirits pairing night with Bear Creek Distillery.

They’ll have four tasting pours of whiskey and other spirits to go with four locally made artisan cheeses, plus bread and other things to nibble on.

It’s happening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and tickets are $35. If you show up for dinner before the class, you’ll get 10 percent off your meal.
