Things to do in Denver today, Oct. 18: Girlpool, The Pixies, beer and cookies and the Doom Room

It’s going to be a great Wednesday.

Girlpool is at the Larimer Lounge, 2721 Larimer St., and attending that show is the correct thing to do tonight, in my sort of humble opinion.

Here, try “Powerplant” on for size.

They’re in town with fellow New York outfit Palm and with local support from Sweater Belly. Tickets are $17, doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.

The Pixies are in town, too. Presumably I don’t need to sell you on the Pixies, but I can say that the last time I saw them they were great and loud.

Bonus: They’re joined by Mitski, who is incredible.

This is also the correct thing to do tonight.

Tickets are $55, doors are at 7 p.m. and the show is at 8 p.m.

Over at Zuni Street Brewing Co., 2355 W. 29th Ave., they’re hosting Good Sugar Baking for some harvest-themed beer and cookie pairings.

For $12, you’ll get four beer samples and four cookies to match. Drop in sometime from 6 to 8 p.m.

And it’s Doom Room time at Ratio Beerworks, 2920 Larimer St., when comedians are pitted against a Screen of Doom that tries to throw a wrench in their sets.

It’s free and starts at 8 p.m.
