Trevor Story is back with the Rockies after recovering from shoulder strain

Story went 3-for-11 with a home run in his rehab assignment with the Isotopes.

Trevor Story is back.

The 24-year-old shortstop, who missed 12 games with a strained left shoulder, was reinstated from the 10-day disabled list Tuesday.

Starting pitcher Jeff Hoffman, who allowed one run on three hits in seven innings on Monday, was optioned back to Triple-A Albuquerque to make room for Story.

Story is batting .180 with 48 strikeouts this season. As a rookie, he blasted 27 home runs in 97 games.

Pat Valaika and Alexei Amarista have filled in for Story at shortstop as he’s recovered. Amarista will start tonight against the Phillies. Story will come off the bench.
