USA Basketball will continue to be based in Colorado.

The national governing body for basketball in the United States announced Wednesday plans to relocate its headquarters to a different building downtown in its longtime home of Colorado Springs.

USA Basketball’s headquarters will soon be located on the northeast corner of Tejon Street and Colorado Avenue in the same building that serves as headquarters for the United States Olympic Committee. The organization’s headquarters have been located on Mark Dabling Boulevard since October 1993.

Construction on the new facility will begin this summer. USA Basketball is shooting to move by the end of this year.

“USA Basketball is delighted to solidify a long-term commitment to stay in Colorado Springs, where USA Basketball has been headquartered since 1979,” said USA Basketball chairman Martin E. Dempsey in a statement. “We look forward to continuing to be a valuable contributor to the City of Colorado Springs and to the U.S. Olympic movement.”

USA Basketball had twice considered moving to different suburbs of Phoenix in 2008 and 2013, The Colorado Springs Gazette reported.

The new building will include 10,000 square feet of office space and 16,000 feet for storage.
